Hi Reader, I'm on vacation this week, so no post. I do want to share an invitation to attend the Center for Family Process Theory Day presentation on Friday, May 8, 9:30am - 1:00pm EDT, via ZOOM. Erik Thompson will explore the relationship between differentiation and transcendence, as well as his proposed new Bowen Theory Concept: The Differentiated Universal Self. I attend the Theory Day lecture series throughout the year and find them valuable. You normally have to register for the entire series. However, this session is open to all for a cost of $90. Click the link below for the registration form, if you're interested. The registration deadline is April 29. RecommendationsThis week's recommendations, like my vacation, are focused on well-being. Enjoy! The Three Laws of Burnout for High-Achievers by Laura Nguyen. This is a must read if, as the author puts it, "...you are a high-achieving, responsible person." The article is a paradigm shift in looking at how burnout occurs and how to prevent it. Of course, at the center of the solution is what I would call self-differentiation. What do you think? Why Leaders Should Bring Their Best Self—Not Their Whole Self—to Work by Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic. The premise of this article is that power makes people weird and leaders need to set boundaries. Amen to both. It offers four reasons why and five things you can do about it. Don't skip the last paragraph. It's a great take on what it means to be a leader. PodcastEpisode 378 of The Non-Anxious Leader Podcast, Another Look at Differentiation of Self (Part 2 of 2-Rebroadcast), is now available. That's it for this week. Thanks for reading. Peace, Jack P.S. If you are new to Two for Tuesday, you can read previous editions HERE. P.P.S. If this was forwarded to you by a friend, you can subscribe here. |
I show faith-based and nonprofit leaders how to be a non-anxious presence, personally and professionally.
